A Great Aloha Weekend - Pictures are in!

This President's Day weekend was the Great Aloha Run in Hawaii. The boys started off the weekend on Saturday with their first race. A 1.5 mile run around the Neil Blaisdell Center. We started out in the back of the pack (with all the walkers) so at first the boys could not understand why they had to run if no one else was. So the first mile was spent trying to encourage them to pass as many people as possible, like race cars. Then I was able to get them excited about running to the big balloon archway. They even got to race Ronald McDonald... that was very fun for them. The volunteers for the race were so wonderful... they made each child feel like a complete winner. The funniest thing...After the race had ended Treston turned to me and said, "Hey mom, next time we should run more than walk!" I laughed so hard... I said, "Good Idea!" Why didn't I think of that? They all raked in the goodies - and their very own winners t-shirts!

On Monday, Stephen and I, ran/walked the 8.15 mile Great Aloha Run. Starting from the Aloha Tower to the Stadium. A couple of months ago... I had gone running and blew my knee. I have been trying to take it easy.... therefore I did not train for this run. But, Stephen (being the wonderful husband he is) said he would do it with me at the last minute... so here goes a fun date! We did better than we thought we would. We started out jogging and made it to the 4 mile marker before my knee shot pain through my body - yelling at me STOP NOW! So for the rest of the time we speed walked. It was fun though. We finished in 1 hour 50 minutes and 48 seconds. That is a 13:36 mile even walking half the time. Their were over 20,000 runners - we placed overall # 6,843. Too much fun and such great memories.

Fun Pics from Puu Pia Hike

Broken Blinds? Who says its broken?

So, the other day, Kailea broke yet another piece
of our blinds. This time however, Treston and Aiden
found something really fun to do with it. They
decided to have marble races on it. They would roll
their marbles down the "roller coaster road" and see how
many of the other persons they could knock off.
It was pretty neat!

I love it when they come up with inventive ways
to play!
